Firefighters have been dealing with a garage fire in Scarborough.

Crews were called at 5.50am today (Wednesday 8th April) just off Newby Farm Road.

They put out the fire by removing the roof (of the garage) and using hose reel jets.

The cause was due to an electrical fault.

Meanwhile, firefighters have also been dealing with a number of call-outs yesterday.

The first happened in Robin Hood's Bay at 12.20pm where a crew responded to a report of a small fire seen in a field. They used one hose reel jet to put it out.

The second was in Scarborough at 12.55pm where firefighters from Scarborough and Robin Hood's Bay were called out to a report of a roof fire.

Crews used two hose reel jets, a 9 metre ladder and a thermal imaging camera to put out the fire, which started in the kitchen and spread into the roof space.
