Delay in Coronavirus Peak in North Yorkshire

Published by Jon Burke at 7:01am 8th April 2020.

The Coronavirus Peak in North Yorkshire could be a number of weeks behind the peak in places like London.

That's according to Chief Executive of the County Council and Chair of the multi-agency North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum, Richard Flinton.

He says the virus will spread more slowly in rural counties than it has done in the big cities and that means the peak in infections is likely to be later.

It comes as there has been talk of the UK's Covid-19 infection rate potentially peaking this weekend.

Richard says it means people need to continue to follow rules on social distancing.
