Age UK Scarborough's calling for more volunteers to help during the Coronavirus outbreak.

They are also looking to build a network of businesses or small community groups that are providing help.

Julie Macey-Hewitt is the charity's Chief Executive, and said:

"We're the community response hub for both Scarborough Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council, for Scarborough and Filey.

So we're providing help and advice for anyone who's got any issues during this time; so that might be shopping, collecting prescriptions, a friendly chat on the phone or any issues they've got at all.

We've taken on around 170 volunteers over the last week and we're still looking for more.

We're offering weekly chats with people, so we're matching those who are isolated; we're working with the Community Kitchen and Scarborough South Cliff Golf Club, who are delivering meals to people who are in need and care packages and things like that".

Anyone who wants to help, by becoming a volunteer, or to be part of the network, can contact Age UK:
