CORONAVIRUS: Praises For Response In North Yorkshire

Published by Karen Liu at 8:27am 2nd April 2020.

The Chief Executive of North Yorkshire County Council is praising communities for their response to Coronavirus.

Richard Flinton says he's proud that residents are following Government advice to help combat COVID-19.

So far there is 149 cases in North Yorkshire, but Richard is warning more is likely:

"Our villages, our streets, our communities, they are fantastic. We do think of each other and it's at times like this, that it's really brought to the forefront and we're reminded of it.

Frankly if you're going to go through this anywhere in the world, North Yorkshire is a pretty good place to be facing this really difficult challenge.

We have a relatively small number of cases in North Yorkshire and I think we need to be prepared for that to escalate over the coming weeks; that's the pattern that's been demonstrated in other parts of the country.

We hope that we won't get quite to the severe levels in other parts of the world and even in London, but we've got to make sure that we are ready for what will an escalation in weeks to come."
