Staxton Residents Urged to Look Out for Neighbours

Staxton Residents Urged to Look Out for Neighbours

Published by Jon Burke at 7:01am 31st March 2020. (Updated at 7:19am 31st March 2020)

People in Staxton are being asked to check on any older or vulnerable neighbours.

The plea comes from resident, Mel Rispin, after phone lines and internet were lost last week, when a BT cabinet was destroyed.

Engineers are still working to try and fix the problem, but it's not certain when that work will be finished.

Mel said:

"We've started our own What's App group here on Lowfields, so we keep each other informed about what's going on - if you can set your own group up, that would be great, but apart from that it's just to have a look out for your neighbour. Is your neighbour the sort of person that doesn't have a mobile phone?

Look out for them, just see if they're ok, maybe shout over the garden fence. Just look out for your neighbours, see if you can see them and see if they're ok."

Mel's been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..
