Park and Rides Close in Scarborough and Whitby

Published by Jon Burke at 3:20pm 30th March 2020.

The Park and Ride facilities in Scarborough and Whitby are to stay closed.

North Yorkshire County Council says they will remain shut till further notice

Corporate Director of Business and Environmental Services, David Bowe, said:

“Following new government measures announced last week to tackle the coronavirus outbreak, both of the Scarborough Park & Rides and the Whitby Park & Ride will remain closed until further notice.

We have clear instructions to stop travelling unless essential and to stay at home, with only key workers making their journeys to work.

During these times of unprecedented uncertainty it is impossible to say when restrictions will be lifted. We will of course continually review our position and will reopen the services at the earliest opportunity.”

We've already told you that the Park and Ride bus service that was due to operate in Bridlington from Saturday 4th April has been cancelled up until the beginning of May.

A further decision will be taken nearer the time as to whether this date is extended.

The two land train routes in the resort, which were due to start operating on the same day, have also been cancelled until at least the beginning of May.
