Reports Filey Bay Resort Remains Partly Open

Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 2:33pm 27th March 2020. (Updated at 4:21pm 27th March 2020)

We've been getting reports a holiday resort in Filey remains partially open, despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Aria Resorts, which owns The Bay, says all its resorts are shut till the end of April.

However, chalet owners have informed us they've been told the park is still open to them.

One chalet owner, from West Yorkshire, has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio

A statement from Aria Resorts said:

"All Aria Resorts, including The Bay Filey closed on 23 March to holidaymakers until 30 April in line with the Government’s guidance for everyone to stay home, social distancing and for no non-essential travel to be undertaken.

All facilities, such as bars, eateries, gyms and swimming pools, also closed on 20 March, in keeping with Government advice.

We will continue to monitor all Government’s guidance and implement any changes necessary.

The latest information for guests can be found on our FAQ page, which we are updating regularly.

Some of the properties on The Bay Filey are privately owned second homes, we have written to those owners and we have strongly urged to remain in their primary residence and follow the Government’s advice to stay at home."
