East Riding Leader Reiterates 'Stay At Home' Message

East Riding Leader Reiterates 'Stay At Home' Message

The Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council is re-iterating his message for visitors and residents to stay at home this weekend.

It follows concerns that there will be a repeat of last weekend, where many came to beaches on the Yorkshire Coast.

Councillor Richard Burton, Leader of the East Riding authority, said:

"I did have concerns last weekend and I did lobby the Government directly on this issue because it was a big concern.

Self isolation wasn't taking place and there were so many numbers coming to the coast, it was phenomenal at the weekend.

I'm hoping now with the message from the Government is that people need to stay at home.

Essential travel only will not mean coming to the coast to enjoy the sunshine, because if you get large numbers of people coming to the coast, walking along the promenade etc, again, there's too much mixing and it's dangerous".
