Community Hub To Be Set Up For Scarborough Borough

Scarborough Borough Council says it is working on setting up a community hub.

Its aim is to be a local point of contact for those in need during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The authority' is working with community groups to give advice, signpost, referrals and tasking of volunteers.

Liz Colling, Deputy Leader of Scarborough Borough Council, said:

"We've had some offers from our fantastic voluntary sector, who recognise that their staff won't be visiting people in homes and won't be doing their one-to-one visits.

So we've been doing a big piece of co-ordination work and I have to say thank you to all the business, volunteers and staff who can't do their jobs and have said they will help us.

We just need to make sure that the plan we have got, in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council, mirrors the guidance that the Government are going to give us.

We'll then have a single point of contact, so one number to ring and a co-ordinated piece going on behind to make sure that the most vulnerable get the support they need."
