Bridlington Residents To Get Online GP Appointments

Published by Karen Liu at 3:54pm 13th March 2020.

Online GP appointments are now available for Bridlington residents.

The town's Primary Care Network has partnered with Push Doctor to offer the digital consultations for patients.

People booking an appointment at any of Bridlington’s six GP practices can now choose whether to see a GP in person, or digitally via Push Doctor either via their computer or smartphone.

With the added pressure of coronavirus on health services, the move follows NHS England’s letter to GPs last week which urged Britain’s 7,000 GP surgeries to reduce face-to-face appointments to help stop the spread of the virus.

The free service will offer more flexible services for local surgeries and patients by reducing waiting times, preventing missed GP appointments and managing patient expectations on services, such as extended hours.

In Bridlington, the online GP consultation service has been rolled out at the following practices:

  • Practice 1
  • Practice 2
  • Practice 3
  • Field House Surgery
  • Manor House Surgery
  • Wold’s View Surgery

All of these practices offer digital consultations through Push Doctor during extended hours, 6.30pm-8pm.

Field House Surgery also offers digital consultations in core hours between 11am-3pm.

Dr Zoe Norris, Clinical Director of Bridlington Primary Care Network, said:

“We are delighted to offer this new service to Bridlington which not only offers greater flexibility but also provides a safer option during this time of the coronavirus threat.

Being able to consult our patients via telephone and video call means that we can provide effective remote consultations that mitigates any risk of potentially infected patients coming into contact with other patients or doctors at the surgery.

This service has been in the planning for a while and could not have come at a better time. Push Doctor has worked closely with us to understand the needs of Bridlington patients.

We are continuing to work together, so that in the long-term, we can offer our patients the choice of face-to-face or online consultations with a range of healthcare professionals and overall, improved access to their healthcare.”

Dr Dan Bunstone, Chief Medical Officer at Push Doctor, said:

“Push Doctor is proud to be a long-term partner to the NHS and UK healthcare system, working together towards the same goal of delivering outstanding care.

Digital health is the future of healthcare and through this partnership, we will help local GP practices adapt to the changing requirements and expectations of patients, meet extended hours obligations and lessen the strain on GPs.”
