New Homes Planned for Filey

New Homes Planned for Filey

Published by Local Democracy Reporter Carl Gavaghan at 11:03am 11th March 2020.

Plans to build up to 42 new homes in Filey have been lodged with Scarborough Council.

Ava Holdings has applied for outline permission for the development on land at Brigg Road, near to an existing caravan park.

As part of the scheme, six of the homes would be classed as affordable.

The planning submission states:

“The proposed development will include a mix of house types, including bungalows, detached, semi-detached and terraced dwellings of two, three and four bedrooms.”

Access to the site would be via Brigg Road, the application adds.

The applicant also lays out what it refers to as its “vision” for the scheme, stating:

“Our vision is to provide 42 high-quality new homes in a well-connected location to the south of Filey.

The proposed development will be attractive, functional and sustainable.

It will demonstrate high standards of urban design, through the delivery of carefully designed spaces between and surrounding a range of new house types.”

The outline plans are now out to consultation and one objection to the plans has been lodged by a resident with concerns about waterlogging on the site.

Just great - yet more stress on the local services. How about sorting those out before you give planning permission for yet more homes. Sure if they grease enough palms it will be passed regardless of any objections. As for the affordable homes - what will happen as usual will be that after being given permission they will then put in to reduce/delete the amount because they cannot afford it and the council as usual will say of course.

So we have someone wanting to build at the side of the railway, we have a half finished estate that should have been completed 3yrs ago opposite.

But we still have a part time police station, a un manned fire station, a doctors surgery that cannot cope with the demand, every bank in Filey closed.

I just wonder where all these residents are going to bank and find work.
