Nearly £15,000 Raised For St. Catherine's Hospice

Nearly £15,000 has been raised on the Yorkshire Coast for St. Catherine's Hospice.

It is after Yorkshire Coast Radio's Bring a Pound to Work Day.

It saw staff members from both the company and the charity visit businesses to collect money that workers have raised.

The grand total is £14,549.

Susan Stephenson, who is from St. Catherine's, said:

"To provide all of our services every day, we need to raise £11,000 so it's a lot of money and we do get fabulous support; but we need to keep raising that every day, 365 days a year, and actually this year, 366.

It's a lot of money to raise and every pound is literally appreciated, every pound counts.

In one day to raise that amount of money is just incredible. That'll go towards caring for patients in the hospice, in their own homes in the community; and also other things that St. Catherine's offer, like bereavement counselling and education.

There's all sorts of things that that will go towards that will make a massive difference to people in this area, so thank you."

Susan has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Matthew Pells:
