A flood warning has been issued for the Yorkshire Coast.

The Environment Agency says it is in force for Bridlington and Whitby, as a result of high spring tides combined with a small positive surge.

For Bridlington, the Agency said flooding is expected for the north side of the dock area, properties on Harbour Road and Floral Pavilion:

"Consequently, water levels around high tide this evening (Tuesday 10th March) has the potential to cause flooding to low lying properties around Bridlington Harbour between 4.30pm and 6pm, and then again tomorrow (Wednesday) between 5am and 6.15am. Take care on low lying roads and footpaths between these times. Conditions around high tides between Tuesday and Thursday are expected to remain at similar levels."

It also says flooding is expected for South Pier and Chicken Run Jetty, and adjacent car parks off South Cliff Road at the exact same times.

For Whitby, the Agency said:

"Consequently, water levels around high tides this evening (Tuesday 10th March) has the potential to cause flooding along low lying land and properties in Whitby around Church Street and the Harbour between 4pm and 5pm. Similar levels are possible on Wednesday morning between 4.15am and 5.30am."
