Successful International Women's Day Event In Scarborough

Successful International Women's Day Event In Scarborough

Published by Karen Liu at 10:41am 10th March 2020.

More than 400 people attended Scarborough's International Women's Day event last week.

It was organised by Inspiring Women who volunteered their time to coordinate the event and business owners, students and residents took part in a full day programme of events on Friday (6th March).

Jenn Crowther, CEO of Yorkshire in Business, said:

“This year’s global theme is #EachforEqual we were able to create an event to motivate others and to make International Women's Day mean something to our town and to each one of us personally.

Celebrating the success of many local businesses was fantastic with many taking time out of their day to join in the activities”.

The event was held over three venues on The Crescent in Scarborough and offered over 50 different speakers, interactive workshops, networking, business mentoring by Yorkshire in Business and a range of business showcase stands.

Margaret Inglesant, of Inspire UK, said:

“We had an amazing day at the event and it more than lived up to our hopes and plans.

We’ve had some fabulous feedback already from attendees and there’s been a real buzz on Social Media about the event too”.

The event was the 2nd International Women’s Day event organised by the group in Scarborough with this year successfully increasing in attendance and sponsorship.

Margaret said:

“It was organised by a Volunteer group from Inspiring Women who worked tirelessly to make the event such a success and should be applauded for their time and passion.

We’d like to thank Scarborough Museums Trust and Kagyu Samye Dzong for opening up their inspiring venues to us and our partner ‘Beyond Housing’ and sponsors ‘Asquith Accountants’ and ‘GI Group’ for their financial support”.
