Year 6 children at Thomas Hinderwell Academy in Scarborough have been raising money for local charity Our Co with a series of self-organised events.

As part of the school's Jigsaw Programme, which covers topics like Personal, Social and Emotional Health Education, Year 6 were tasked with working as part of a team to 'make the world a better place'.

They organised and ran a series of different events throughout the week including splat the teacher, karaoke, football and a cake sale and decided to donate money raised to a local charity.

Acting Vice Principal Mrs Howley said the project has lasted six weeks and the children have bee fantastic creating the events:

"It's been amazing. We're so proud of them. They've worked so hard together. The team work that's happening and the organisation. Just the fun too. And its been great for the parents who've supported us as well. Made it all part of a community."

The activity raised £251.83 for Our Co, a charity which supports local good causes in the Scarborough area.

Alfie & Lily from Year 6 have been telling Paddy about the events they created:

Well done to the children in Year 6!
