East Riding Pavement Parking To Be Looked At Further

A motion brought by an East Riding of Yorkshire Councillor asking for more enforcement against pavement parking will be discussed by a committee.

Viv Padden put it forward to authority last week.

He explains what some of the motion said should be done about the problem:

"We're proposing that this council resolves this; to ask the Chief Executive to write to the Chief Constable of Humberside and request that Humberside Police enforce the legislation, and that the Police Community Support Officers be empowered to issue fixed penalty notices to offenders."

Cllr. Padden added:

"We have major problems generally speaking.

We can't ignore the fact that we're building all these houses, with 2.5 cars per house which is ridiculous numbers.

Most houses have got two, if not three cars and the roads are busy."
