Bridlington Branch of Yorkshire Bank to Close

Bridlington Branch of Yorkshire Bank to Close

Published by Jon Burke at 10:02am 27th February 2020. (Updated at 12:28pm 27th February 2020)

Yorkshire Bank in Bridlington is to close.

It's as it's taken over by Virgin Money.

Seven branches in Yorkshire will shut this year, with the closure of Bridlington's Queen Street bank planned for August 4th.

Customers will be transferred to the branch on Huntriss Row, Scarborough.

That's more than 17 miles away.

Group Business Transformation Officer at Virgin Money UK, Lucy Dimes, said:

“The decision to close branches is never taken lightly. The changes announced today are focused on consolidating branches where there is another Clydesdale Bank / Yorkshire Bank / Virgin Money location within half a mile as well as closing a number of branches to reflect changes to customer demand.

As our customers change the way they want to bank with us, we are evolving the role of our stores - investing in all of the ways that customers are choosing to bank with us, including a reimagined Virgin Money presence on the high street.

Following the unveiling of three new Virgin Money stores in December last year, the full rebrand of our national network of 166 stores begins in April and will be completed by September this year.”

This has been on the cards for months, people greet you in the bank with an iPad recommending that you do your banking online. Why should we travel 18 miles to Scarborough to use Yorkshire bank. We may just as well transfer to another bank in Bridlington, such as the Halifax. You are also met by an iPad wielding customer service assistant recommending that you do your transaction yourself on a machine. It won’t be long before all the banks are closed on the high street, thus making the banks even more profits. We are soon to be charged for using the hole in the wall cash machines, it’s all a complete joke.

Get used to it.

In Filey all the banks have gone.

So we have a 22 mile round trip to Scarborough to do our banking.

Don't bother changing banks, it could be a total waste of time.

It’s not too bad for the people that have access to the internet and online banking, but what about the older members of the community that haven’t, With post offices and banks closing down, how do they get access to their pension money.

Have had a savings account there for 33 years. It is not accessible by card or internet, so looks like i'll have to close it. No way I'm travelling to scarborough to visit a branch.
