Published by the Yorkshire Coast Radio News Team at 9:29am 22nd February 2020. (Updated at 8:43am 23rd February 2020)

Police have arrested a man after he fell off a motor bike following a pursuit from Scarborough.

Officers were responding to reports of the theft of two motorcycles and a moped from Eden Drive and Asquith Avenue in the town at around 8.20am on Friday morning (21 Feb 2020).

A short time later two suspects were sighted on a motorbike in the town centre and they headed out of town towards Burniston.

A police patrol vehicle pursued the motorbike containing two men. The pillion passenger came off the motorbike and was arrested at Thornton-le-Dale just after 12pm.

The pursuit was then called off due to the dangerous manner of riding.

Enquiries are ongoing to arrest the rider and locate two stolen motorcycles - a purple Honda (reg YY03 AWN) and a white and blue Honda GSX (reg Y851 HKY).

A 22-year-old man, of no fixed abode, remains in custody for questioning on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
