Supporters Day For Filey RNLI

Supporters Day For Filey RNLI

Published by Karen Liu at 6:01am 21st February 2020.

Filey RNLI has its supporters day today.

It is a chance for residents to find out how they can help the charity.

It is at Filey Library from 10am until 3pm.

John Ward, who's from the Lifeboat Station, said:

"So we've got people who might want to be involved with the shop we have on Coble Landing.

We run lots and lots of fundraising events during the year, and we also have the water safety team.

It costs round about £200,000 a year to maintain the lifeboats and the equipment at Filey.

That's mechanical work, the boats themselves, all the bits and pieces, the training for the crew.

We need to raise that money locally, so the more than we raise, the better it is for us."

They are also looking for donations of paperback books, unwanted Christmas gifts, or prizes for tombolas and raffles.
