Scarborough Council Leader Explains New Cabinet

Scarborough Council Leader Explains New Cabinet

Published by Jon Burke at 7:01am 19th February 2020.

The Leader of Scarborough Council's been explaining his decision to expand his cabinet.

We told you last week, how Steve Siddons announced it would double in size from three members to six.

When he became leader last May, he proposed a committee system of governance, with members from everywhere in the council being able to participate.

Councillor Siddons said:

"The Chief Executive of the Council is currently working on proposals for a committee system and that will go before full council for all members to make a decision on, in due course.

In the meantime, we needed to strengthen cabinet, because the interim arrangements have go on for longer than I would have hoped they would."

At a meeting last week, Councillor Siddons announced Councillors Michelle Donoghue-Moncrieff (Independent), Carl Maw (Labour) and Phil Kershaw (Independent) would join the Cabinet in March.

no, the cabinet has not expanded, it is just getting nearer the size it was before he decided to take more power for himself and a couple of his cohorts. No conservatives in there so actually not inclusive. Not all conservative councillors were bad/useless. He is actually no better than Bastiman was, just look at the people he has chosen to review the futurist theatre review - Bastiman and Cockerill the ones responsible for it being torn down!!! As the saying goes you could not make it up... Have not seen anything on here about his choice of people to do the review yet
