Review Into Yorkshire Coast D-BID Complete

Published by Jon Burke at 6:31am 19th February 2020.

An independent review into the ballot which led to the establishment of the Yorkshire Coast D-BID scheme has been completed.

The Association of Electoral Administrators has carried out an investigation into the role played by Scarborough Borough Council.

It handled the voting process for the entire Yorkshire coast.

Some businesses have expressed concerns about the ballot not being fair, claiming they didn't even know about it.

Scarborough and Whitby MP, Robert Goodwill, has sent two letters to the Secretary of State for Local Government, Robert Jenrick, saying he's worried about that, as well as local authorities having too many votes for a scheme they wanted.

The AEA has said it sent its report to Scarborough Council last week.

We've asked the council for details of what happens next and when it'll be published, but we've not yet had a response.

a) There is a surprise, why did you not ask councillor siddons when he was talking about his new committee?
b) As they were not actually looking into all the bid but just select parts what use is it going to be apart from costing the taxpayers good money.
