Bridlington Drivers Warned of Disruption

Published by Jon Burke at 7:01am 17th February 2020.

Drivers in Bridlington are being warned of disruption this week.

Two roads will be closed this week, as carriageway and footway improvements works progress along the A1038, Kingsgate.

The carriageway between 41 and 19 Kingsgate will be reconstructed during week commencing Monday, 17 February for five days as part of the ongoing works to improve Kingsgate.

This will require the total closure of Kingsgate and George Street from 9am until 5pm each day, to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's head of infrastructure and facilities, Dave Waudby, said:

“The council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience the closures may cause and ask for the patience of motorists, road users and residents.”

The scheme on Kingsgate consists of the reconstruction of the existing footway and carriageway, with a new carriageway surfacing being applied which generates extremely low surface noise levels whilst providing high levels of grip. New footway edgings and channels will also be installed to improve the carriageway drainage.

The work is being carried out by Tarmac Trading Ltd on behalf of the council with funding secured from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund. This funding was secured following the submission of a successful bid by the council.

After making an excellent job of this project it will be interesting to see if Cardigan Road is afforded the same treatment??
