Bridlington Men In Sheds Awarded National Lottery Funding

Bridlington Men in Sheds are set to make improvements to its group.

It's after it was awarded £98,746 from the National Lottery Community Fund.

David Bulmer, Treasurer of Bridlington Men in Sheds, said:

"It's been greatly needed really because the building that we've got has no heating, we're just using gas heaters at the moment.

The lighting's not up to scratch and then also the money will be used to employ somebody to promote the group.

It'll help improve other areas of the group; we could do some decorating and we have a workshop, so we could get some more tools for that."

The group's been open since 2017 and currently has between 45-50 members.

The Shed is based on Beck Hill and men in Bridlington are encouraged to go along to socialise, relax, and learn or pass on skills.

David added:

"We'd encourage people to come along if they're lonely, if they're bereaved or if they just want some men to talk to.

It's been asked by the Wolds View Patient Champions, they were looking for somewhere for men to go because they were going to the doctors and they couldn't help them; so this group was set up for that and we do get referrals from doctors and other groups in Bridlington."
