Yorkshire's Countryfile Live Event Cancelled

Yorkshire's Countryfile Live Event Cancelled

Published by Matthew Pells at 11:27am 4th February 2020.

The Countryfile Live show scheduled to take place at Castle Howard in August has been cancelled after problems securing enough sponsors for the event.

Last year's inaugural event attracted over fifty thousand people but suffered from traffic management issues.

The cancellation means there will not be a Countryfile event in the North this year.

In a post on the Countryfile live website organisers say..

"It is with regret that SME London and BBC Studios have taken the reluctant decision to cancel Countryfile Live at Castle Howard between 6th and 9th August 2020.

Countryfile Live relies on the support of exhibitors and sponsors, without whom we are unable to finance the high infrastructure costs and produce an event of the scale and calibre that visitors expect.

Despite an attendance of over 50,000 at the inaugural Show in August 2019, the level of support from major brands and sponsors for Castle Howard 2020 Show has been less than anticipated. We will continue to explore opportunities to expand Countryfile Live into northern parts of the country in the next few years, and look forward to hosting a fantastic inaugural year at Windsor Great Park between 20th to 23rd August, which remains unaffected.

SEE Tickets will be issuing all group ticket bookers a full refund + booking fee. All other ticket bookers, including those who booked through Eventim and The Caravan and Motorhome Club, will receive a full refund + booking fee, in addition to a guest ticket (mirroring the initial order placed at point-of-purchase) to attend Countryfile Live at Windsor Great Park. This offer will end on the 28th February 2020.

SEE Tickets and The Caravan and Motorhome Club ticket bookers can obtain their guest ticket by entering their booking reference into the code box on the following link here.

Eventim ticket bookers can obtain their guest ticket by entering their booking reference into the code on the following link here

For any questions regarding your refund or the guest ticket offer for Windsor Great Park, please see contact your ticket agent directly via the contact details provided below.

We are pleased to confirm that all applicable refunds will be processed within 5 working days for SEE tickets, 14 days for Eventim and 5 working days for The Caravan and Motorhome Club.

John Hoy, CEO of Castle Howard:

"This is obviously disappointing news for the team at Castle Howard  and the wider region, as BBC Countryfile Live was a brilliant addition to the events calendar.

Last year’s event saw over 50,000 visitors and we worked closely with the organisers to refine the logistics of staging one of the largest events we have ever welcomed.

We really hope this doesn't cause too much inconvenience to those who have already bought tickets for the 2020 edition and praise the organising team for cancelling well in advance of the event, as soon as it became apparent that it would not be financially viable to stage it this year.

However we are still looking forward to a rich and diverse events programme and we will be announcing new events for 2020 in the coming weeks."

the BBC cannot afford it because they are paying their staff far too much in salaries, not to mention the executives. Heaven forbid that an event should be held in the North of the country. We have always known that as far as the london bbc elite are concerned we are only here to put our money in their pockets.

I listened to a interview with the company who were responsible for putting everything together.
They made it quite clear that the cancellation was because large companies who sponsored it last year were not in a position to sponsor it this year.
