Scarborough RNLI Raises Nearly £7,000

Scarborough RNLI’s cross-country relay run in the summer raised £6,930.

A dozen personnel took it in turns to run 145 miles to Blackpool lifeboat station.

Accompanied by three support vehicles, they each ran about 10 miles, with some doing up to 30. It took 22 hours, seven fewer than they thought it would take.

The proceeds of an earlier fundraiser by Blackpool RNLI were shared with Scarborough RNLI, who reciprocated by donating £3,000 from the relay run to Blackpool.

Blackpool RNLI’s lifeboat operations manager, Keith Horrocks, said:

“We’re really grateful to our fellow RNLI volunteers from Scarborough lifeboat station. Their fundraising effort in the summer was incredible and will benefit the communities of both Scarborough and Blackpool.

We’re really thrilled that they have chosen to donate £3,000 of the money they raised towards our D-class appeal”.

The £52,000 appeal was launched with an RNLI fish supper in October. To donate, visit
