Last Chance to Comment on D-BID Ballot

Last Chance to Comment on D-BID Ballot

Published by Jon Burke at 11:41am 30th January 2020.

If you have a business on the Yorkshire coast which is affected by the D-BID scheme, you only have till midday tomorrow to share your experiences of the ballot.

That was carried out by Scarborough Borough Council last year, before the project was introduced.

The authority took responsibility for the vote across the area covered by the scheme, including the east Riding.

An independent investigation into its role is being carried out by the Association of Electoral Administrators, whose Chief Executive, Peter Stanyon, wants the opinions of the firms who've been affected.

In the interests of transparency and completeness, prior to completing the draft of his report, Peter is interested in receiving written comments from any parties affected by the BID.

Comments should be limited to the scope of the investigation, that is, the role of Scarborough Borough Council in carrying out the actual ballot, and should be submitted by email to peter.stanyon@aea-elections.co.uk by 12pm (noon), Friday 31 January.

Some businesses have complained the ballot wasn't fair and that they didn't know about it.
