There were defeats for Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town, while Bridlington had to settle for a draw, on Saturday.

In the BetVictor NPL Premier Division, Scarborough Athletic lost 1-0 at bottom club Stafford Rangers.

The West Midlands outfit won the clash, 20 minutes from time.

Whitby Town were also defeated on their travels, despite leading at Warrington Town.

Paul Blackett's sixth goal in as many minutes put them in front, straight from the second half kick-off.

However, their Cheshire hosts levelled within three minutes and claimed victory after netting a minute from time.

The league was shook by the news of Matlock Town midfielder Jordan Sinnott's death.

Jordan was the son of ex-Scarborough FC star Lee Sinnott and turned out against Whitby Town earlier this season.

Bridlington Town had to settle for a draw, at Garforth Town, in the Northern Counties East League Premier.

Brett Agnew's men had falled behind midway through the first half, but Billy Logan salvaged a point just after the hour.

Sixth-placed Brid remain in promotion contention, just four points behind Penistone Church, in third, with three games in hand.

In rugby, Bridlington progressed in the Yorkshire Shield after a 33-22 victory over Morley.
