Two army veterans from Scarborough, who were friends when they were kids, have met by chance after 45 years.

75 year-old Mike Blackwell and George Sowary, who's 80, both served in Germany, though not together.

Until a few weeks ago, they hadn't seen each other since 1975.

They've both been using the First Light Trust Charity Hub on Newborough, but at different times.

But they were on a coach trip to Bridlington earlier this month.

Mike said:

"I heard this voice and I said 'that voice rings a bell'. I said 'George? George Sowary?' and immediately he said 'is somebody calling my name?' Anyway, he came up to me and he said 'who are you?' I said 'Mike Blackwell'. 'You're joking', he said, 'I haven't seen you for years'. I said 'well, here I am.'"

George and Mike have been talking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke..
