Scarborough Carers Charity Supports National Campaign

A Scarborough charity's stepping up its campaign to raise awareness about young carers.

A tour starts today to support a national day on the 30th of January.

Scarborough and Ryedale Carers Resource will be out and about on the Yorkshire Coast.

Jodie Peckitt, who's Service Manager, said:

"They're out delivering awareness sessions in schools; it could be there's drop-ins at lunch time, it could be that they're meeting key staff in the school with raising awareness about what support is available, and how schools can support the young people that are in there."

Jodie says they have already started posting stuff on their website and social media too:

"We've been working towards it for this whole month; and every day we've been putting on posts about different things about young carers that sometimes people aren't aware of, some of the fantastic things they do, and some of the support that's available out there if somebody's a young carer and wanted to find out a little bit more about what there is that can maybe help them."
