Giant Sculpture Workshop In Scarborough For Armed Forces Day

Giant Sculpture Workshop In Scarborough For Armed Forces Day

Published by Karen Liu at 7:01am 25th January 2020.

There's a giant sculpture making workshop in Scarborough today.

The free drop-in session is in aid of this year's national Armed Forces Day.

Scarborough will be hosting the event and the workshop is a chance for residents to show their support.

It's being hosted by Animated Objects Theatre Company and Lee Threadgold, who is from there, said:

"We're working on a World War One tank, which is going to go on display in the town.

We have a fleet of Dazzle warships and we're also working on a large scale version of the Battle of Britain memorial flight; as well as a number of large figures including a serviceman from the 1940's.

It's a lot of sculpting so it'll require a lot of people to get involved.

We have workshops scheduled across the whole Borough in different locations, they're free to drop-in and people can come along to them.

We're also working with a number of community groups as well where we're going to go into their venues and deliver workshops there."

Today's workshop is at Scarborough Market Hall from 10am until 3pm.

The next one is Saturday 1st February from 10am until 3pm at Scarborough Central Library.
