Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team have been called out to two walkers who had fallen from a path in Goathland.

It happened yesterday (Sunday 19th January) at around 1pm on the path leading to the bottom of the Mallyan Spout Waterfall.

The Mountain Rescue Team were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and once on site, it was established that a man had sustained bruising to his chest and was suffering from cold and that his partner was complaining of severe back pain after falling across a rock step.

The man was walked slowly back to the top of the path for more detailed assessment and warming in a team ambulance while the woman was packaged in a team vacuum mattress before being carried by the team to the waiting Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a flight to definitive medical care.

The gentleman was then assessed by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew and deemed fit to leave the scene at which point crew members from the Mountain Rescue Team drove him to his car in Goathland.
