Boro Beat Old Manager and Brid's Winning Run Continues

Scarborough Athletic got one over their old chief after seeing off Steve Kittrick's Matlock Town, on Saturday.

Boro raced into a 2-0 lead inside half an hour, with Josh Barrett breaking the deadlock, on 18 minutes. Top goalscorer James Walshaw doubled their advantage, on 30, and despite ex-Boro midfielder Nathan Valentine striking for Matlock, early in the second half, Darren Kelly's men held on for all three points.

Bridlington Town remain in promotion contention after hitting Barton Town 4-1, at the Neil Hudgell Solicitors Stadium.

Billy Logan put Brett Agnew's side in front, with 19 minutes gone. However, Daniel North levelled, midway through the second half. Crucially, though, Chris Adams hit back within seconds and added a third, 13 minutes from time. Thomas Waudby added gloss in injury time as Brid stay fifth, just four points behind leaders Penistone Church, with three games in hand.

Unfortunately, Whitby Town lost out 2-1, at the Towbar Express Stadium, against FC United of Manchester.

After a flat first half, the second period quickly exploded into life as Whitby's Kieran Weledji was sent off and their visitors led inside eight minutes of the restart.

The ten men levelled through Paul Blackett's fifth goal in as many minutes, from the penalty spot. However, the North West outfit won an end-to-end clash, four minutes from time. It was the Blues' first defeat since 14th December.

In rugby, Scarborough thumped Huddersfield YMCA 50-10 and Bridlington beat Beverley 21-15.
