Steve Kittrick Returns to Scarborough's Flamingoland Stadium

Published by Matthew Pells at 10:10am 18th January 2020. (Updated at 8:02am 19th January 2020)

Former Scarborough Athletic manger Steve Kittrick will be returning to the Flamingoland Stadium today for the first time since leaving the club last March.

Kittrick now manages Boro's opposition today, Matlock Town.

During his three year stint as Scarborough manager Kittrick secured promotion for the side and took them to two North Riding Senior Cup finals and a League Cup Final. There will also be returns today for former Boro favourites Bailey Gooda and Luke Dean, who were also in the promotion winning squad and now play for Matlock.

Matlock had a good start to the current season but now find themselves just above the relegation places.

Today's game could see Boro field some of the clubs new loan signings and a goal scoring legend.

The club's all-time record goalscorer Ryan Blott made a surprise return to the club yesterday. 31 year old Blott, who bagged over 250 goals for Boro, left the club three years ago to join Pickering Town. But after departing the Pikes a fortnight ago, Blott was invited to rejoin Boro by boss Darren Kelly.

Ryan said..

"It feels weird to be back, but it is very exciting. Obviously my role from when I was first here will be a bit different, but I'm looking forward to be able to have an impact, both on and off the pitch. I'm working hard to get myself to where I need to be. I've been training with the lads and I've enjoyed it.

After speaking to Daz about how he sees me having an impact within the club, it was something that I couldn't turn down".

Yesterday Darren Kelly signed York City defender Harry Spratt on an initial month's loan, subject to FA ratification. The 19-year-old started his career with Manchester United U18s before joining Huddersfield Town U23s in 2018 and joined York City in the summer of 2019.

Earlier in the week Boro also signed Rotherham United attacker Jacob Gratton on an initial one month loan and 20 year old midfielder Kieran Glynn from League Two club Salford City.

Meanwhile it's been announced this morning that Boro attacking duo, Luke Lofts and George Walmsley have signed for Pickering Town in a bid to improve their playing time.

Midfielder Lofts is now looking forward to getting some time on the pitch which has been limited due to injuries and fitness.

George Walmsley has moved to Pickering Town to also get some minutes on the pitch after interest shown by former coach, Steve Roberts.

Darren Kelly has reiterated that the door is always open and the progress of the duo will be observed by the Boro chief.

Today's match at the Flamingoland Stadium kicks off at 3pm, with turnstiles opening at 1.30pm. Kids aged 11 and under can get in free today when accompanied by a paying adult/over 65 as part of a sponsorship deal between the club and UPM Raflatac.
