Flood Alert for Yorkshire Coast

Flood Alert for Yorkshire Coast

Published by Jon Burke at 9:25am 15th January 2020.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Yorkshire coast.

It says flooding is possible for the North Sea coast from Whitby to Filey, including Scarborough.

Overtopping waves and spray are expected as a result of strong winds and large waves following Storm Brendan.

They're expected to affect the Scarborough area, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm this evening (15/01/20).

Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads, particularly on Foreshore Road North, where a flood warning may be required.

The Agency is warning residents to please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous
