Funding Shortfall For North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is facing a funding shortfall it was not expecting.

Chief Fire Officer, Andrew Brodie, says he learned last Friday that the share of council tax going towards fire services in North Yorkshire will be 1.99%.

He was expecting a precept of 2.99%, leaving them requiring savings of £215,000.

He expressed his frustration in a tweet:

just a question why do they set a budget without knowing what the precept is going to be?
