Shock For Kelly In Last Football Before Christmas

Darren Kelly suffered a heavy first defeat as Scarborough Athletic manager, while Whitby Town counterpart Chris Hardy was pleased with his side's first league win since September.

Kelly's Seadogs were thumped 5-0 at Buxton, whose own boss has only been in post since 3rd December. Athletic had been in fine form with four successive victories since former chief John Deacey's departure. However, they were brought back to earth with a bump, with four of the goals coming in the second half, in Derbyshire, on Saturday.

Meanwhile Kelly's equivalent at Whitby, Chris Hardy celebrated success in a hard-fought five-goal-thriller, at Witton Albion, despite playing most of the second half with ten men.

Town led through an early Jake Hackett penalty, with debutant Paul Blackett putting the Blues back ahead, seconds after their Cheshire hosts levelled. Shane Bland saved a Witton spot kick before Corey Roper put the Seasiders 3-1 up going into half-time, with his first goal for the club. Town held on despite defender Luke Bythway's red card and conceding seconds from the end to win 3-2.

Bridlington Town's trip to Athersley Recreation in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, was postponed, due to a waterlogged pitch.
