Scarborough Survivors Extends Opening Hours For Christmas

Published by Karen Liu at 7:01am 21st December 2019.

A Scarborough charity says its doors will be open throughout Christmas and New Year.

Scarborough Survivors provides support to those across the Borough with mental health distress.

Andrea Woolcott, its Chief Officer, said:

"We realised that Christmas can be a difficult period for people; either loneliness or the stresses and strains of what the Christmas festivities bring.

So we've extended our opening times over the Christmas and New Year period, to be able to provide support for people who may be in distress and need it.

Just not having to go to A&E, or not having to rely on a doctor, or not suffering in silence, they know that there is somewhere to go where people are going to be there to listen to them.

They'll be helped and supported through the lonely period or the stress that the festive season brings."

Andrea has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Karen Liu:
