Dogs Invited To Bridlington Christmas Carols Event

Dogs Invited To Bridlington Christmas Carols Event

Published by Karen Liu at 6:01am 18th December 2019.

Dogs in Bridlington are being invited to a Christmas Carols event tonight.

Bark the Herald Angels Sing takes place at the Priory Church from 6.

Dogs can also bring their humans to take part.

The event is free of charge, but any money raised will be divided between the Bridlington branch of the RSPCA and the Church.

Matthew Pollard, Rector at the Church, said:

"We stand around the Christmas tree; we sing carols led by The Raised Voices, a community voices choir from Kilham and when we've done that, there are mince pies for the humans and doggy treats for the dogs.

It's not unknown for dogs to join in, but that makes it all the more fun. We do get a little bit of howling and whining.

Dogs are always welcome to the Priory Church in Bridlington.

They come on Sunday mornings, not in large numbers but it's not unknown to have two, three, four dogs in the congregation.

They get blessed at the communion time and we have pet blessing services as well.

We want people to know that if their animals play an important part of their lives, they're welcome to come to Church with them and on this occasion, they do come in large numbers."

Matthew has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Jon Burke:
