Five Injured in Scarborough Crash

Five people have been injured in a serious road collision in Scarborough.

It happened at around 7.40pm yesterday on the coastal road between Scarborough and Burniston and involved two cars - a Hyundai travelling towards Burniston and a Seat travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 19-year-old man, was airliftedto James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries, while his two passengers, a 17 year-old boy and a woman aged 19, were taken to Scarborough District Hospital with less serious injuries. All who were in of the car are from Scarborough.

The driver of the Seat, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries and her passenger, a 19-year-old man was taken to Scarborough District Hospital, also with serious injuries. They're both from Middlesborough.

The road was closed and then re-opened at 1.30am.

Police want any witnesses to call 101, quoting incident number 12190229634.
