Bridlington Town at Wembley Today

Published by Matthew Pells at 6:01am 9th December 2019.

Bridlington Town AFC is at Wembley Stadium today pitching against five other non-league football clubs for a share of the Buildbase £100k Transfer Deal 2019, a renovation programme for clubs playing in the Buildbase FA Trophy or Buildbase FA Vase.

The shortlisted clubs will present their plans to a panel of judges at Wembley Stadium and two winning clubs will each walk away with a £25,000 product bursary, which includes building, electrical and hire products to renovate their facilities.

As part of the application process Bridlington Town AFC outlined its project, which includes replacing the existing clubhouse with a two-storey modular building to double the space of the existing facility. It will house an upgraded bar as well as provide facilities for community use such as for voluntary groups, providing doorstep education and training courses plus meeting spaces and opportunities to deliver diverse football and sport-related activities.

The five other finalists are Stowmarket FC and Cottesmore Amateurs S&S from the Buildbase FA Vase and Barton Rovers FC, Basford United FC and Hendon FC from the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Judges from Buildbase and the FA will be looking for the clubs to demonstrate how feasible their renovation plans are as well as how far they go to benefit the club and fans as well as wider community.

Paul Roche, Managing Director of Buildbase said:

“Many non-league football clubs desperately need support to improve their facilities and every year we’re inspired by the passion and vision of those applying. It’s a competitive programme and those shortlisted have done exceptionally well to get this far. We look forward to hearing more from Bridlington Town at Wembley.”

The Buildbase renovation programme has been running since the builders’ merchant became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and Vase in 2016. The latest winners are Weymouth FC and Barnoldswick Town FC.
