A charity event in Scarborough later is aimed at reminding people about a missing Whitby man.

Peter Brown, 47, was last seen on the 8th of May in Whitby.

He has been a member of Combat Base Scarborough, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club.

It is putting on an open event at Barons Fitness to raise money for the Missing People charity.

Everyone is welcome, whether or not they have a background in martial arts, and they can see what the club is about.

Children are welcome to give Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a try at 11.30am, with the start time of the event at 12.30pm.

Andrew Krlic, a coach at Combat Base Scarborough, explains what Peter is like:

Andrew added:

"I'll always remember when I first met him, just a massive smile on his face, and shaking hands with me.

He introduced me to the guys at Scarborough Judo club and really took me under his wing.

I definitely wouldn't be a black belt in judo if it wasn't for Pete because he just constantly coached me and encouraged me.

He's a top bloke encouraging everyone and always has time for people helping them."

He has been speaking to Yorkshire Coast Radio's Karen Liu:
