Community Orders Given For Assaulting Scarborough Police

Two people from Scarborough have been given community orders after two police officers were assaulted in the town.

The incident happened at around 2.20pm on Thursday 14th November after CCTV revealed suspicious activity involving two people in a vehicle in the Westborough area.

Police stopped the vehicle on Foreshore Road and received minor injuries while making the arrests for suspected drug dealing.

Both officers were able to carry on with their duties.

Damian Burns, 45, from Gildercliffe in Scarborough, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a class C drug. 

He has been given a community order until 1st December 2020, has to do rehabilitation activity for ten days, has to pay a total of £225 in compensation and costs, and has to forfeit the drugs to be destroyed.

Kerry Louise Osborne, 41, also from Gildercliffe in Scarborough, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and driving whilst disqualified.

She also has a community order until 1st December 2020, has to do 20 days of rehabilitation activity, 300 hours of unpaid work, has to pay £250 in compensation and has been disqualified from driving for 12 months.
