Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough has received a housebuilder’s donation to improve kitchen facilities in its In-Patient Unit after being backed with a grand donation.

Persimmon Homes Yorkshire has awarded Saint Catherine’s a £1,000 grant courtesy of its Community Champions initiative.

The hospice’s In-Patient Unit provides 24-hour specialist care and has 18 en-suite rooms, each with access to the gardens.

The donation from Persimmon Homes will fund a new commercial dishwasher for the unit.

Joanne Brooke, from Saint Catherine’s, said:

“All of our services are free of charge, so we rely on fundraising and businesses, like Persimmon Homes, to help us to continue to provide our specialist care in a comforting environment.

We really needed a more robust commercial dishwasher that can withstand the rigours of a busy kitchen and this donation has made this possible.”

Tim Nixon, sales director at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said:

“We are proud to support local charities and organisations through our Community Champions scheme.

Saint Catherine’s offers an amazing service and helps many people within the community during difficult times, so we are very pleased to have been able to support them.”
