Emergency Services Fair In Filey

Published by Karen Liu at 6:01am 30th November 2019.

Filey is holding a Christmas Emergency Services fair today.

It will be from 1pm to 4pm at Filey Library's car park.

There will be:-

  • Road Safety
  • Fire and Rescue
  • Police
  • RNLI
  • Mountain Rescue
  • Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Robbie McKennan, Community Safety Officer at Filey Lifeboat Station, said:

"The RNLI are going to be there to pass on their normal water safety messages.

We'll have lots of information for people and we will can also give advice out on things like life jackets, better boating and all that kind of thing.

We'll also be passing out our just float messages so we'd love to see people along and have a chat with us."

Robbie also said it is important for people to know how emergency services work:

"It's vital really; if something does go wrong, that they know who they need to contact and how they can contact them.

And part of what we put out is our normal messages about how to contact the Coastguard and how to ensure that the right agencies turn up at an incident."

The emergency services are not only giving out safety advice, but freebies too.

People will be able to try a police or fire uniform on, take a quiz to win a Christmas hamper and have photo opportunities with the road safety mascot, Spike the Hedgehog.

Firefighters will also be cutting up a car at 2pm.
