Scarborough Girl With Rare Disease Surprised With Trip

The family of a girl in Scarborough with a rare heart disease have thanked local fundraisers for their help in enabling her to go to Disneyland Paris.

Thalia-Beau Wright, 5, has restrictive cardiomyopathy and needs a transplant as it is incurable.

Her grandmother, Christine Johnson, said:

"It all started with a friend of ours who wanted to get Thalia and us all to Disney.

She did a skydive with other people and raised funds that way, so lots of people have raised lots of money.

Thalia is Disney on the brain. She absolutely loves all the characters, the princesses and the films.

She's a proper Disney girl at heart and we're just so overwhelmed that people have done this for us.

To have this trip to look forward to, and especially with the magic of Christmas as well, it's just so special."

Various groups and individuals in Scarborough have been fundraising for this surprise trip.

The family surprised Thalia with the announcement yesterday afternoon.
