Yorkshire coast residents are being reminded today is their last chance to register to vote in the General Election on December 12th.

Anyone not on the register of electors will not be able to vote in any of the elections.

There is still time for people to register and this can be done easily online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote before the deadline of midnight, Tuesday 26 November.

Alternatively, people can contact their council’s Elections Team for assistance.

Scarborough Borough Council - 01723 232323

East Riding of Yorkshire Council - 01482 393313

Anyone who will be on holiday on 12th December can apply to vote by post or proxy (a proxy is someone that can vote on your behalf, but at the named elector's usual polling station).

The deadline for making changes to existing postal vote arrangements or applying for a postal vote is 5.00pm, Tuesday 26 November.

The deadline for applying to vote by proxy is 5.00pm, Wednesday 4 December.
