Pressure On Boro Boss After Latest Defeat

Pressure remains on Scarborough Athletic manager John Deacey after the Seadogs slumped to an eleventh defeat of the season, on Saturday.

16th-placed Athletic were beaten 3-1 at Cheshire side Witton Albion, who took the lead inside 16 minutes. The former Conference outfit doubled their advantage, just after the hour, but Boro had hope when James Walshaw reduced the arrears, 18 minutes from time. However, a penalty, just five minutes later, made it 3-1 and Deacey's men, who face local rivals Whitby Town in a crunch derby, at the Flamingo Land Stadium, next Saturday, couldn't recover.

Before that, they entertain nearby Staithes Athletic, who are fresh from 14 straight wins, in the North Riding Senior Cup, on Tuesday night.

Whitby saw their match, yesterday, at home to Grantham Town, postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Bridlington Town's trip to Eccleshill United, in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League, was called off for the same reason.
