Pumping Station Fixed But Flood Alert Remains

Pumping Station Fixed But Flood Alert Remains

Published by Matthew Pells at 10:00am 23rd November 2019.

A flood alert remains in force for parts of Seamer, Staxton, Irton, Ayton and Muston after a technical failure at a pumping station earlier in the week.

The Environment Agency issued a Flood Alert for the Upper River Derwent after a pumping station in Norton failed on Wednesday. The Agency say the pumps are now fixed but that the flood alert remains in place.

They say flooding is possible for: The Upper Derwent and Scarborough areas, including land around The Sea Cut at Scalby, Throxenby Beck, Old Malton, and Priorpot Beck in Norton.

A flood alert is the lowest level of alert. The Met Office have issued a yellow warning of rain for the area on Saturday with downpours expected to continue throughout the day.
