The benefits women can bring to Yorkshire Coast businesses will be highlighted at a major business conference in Scarborough this week.

The Scarborough and Coast Business day takes place on Friday at Scarborough Spa. The event, which is organised by the University of Hull, is hoping to ‘Inspire Enterprise on the Yorkshire Coast’.

The day long conference has a varied line-up of speakers including former McCain Foods directer Sue Jefferson.

Sue now works as a consultant working with companies to create inclusive working cultures and to unlock the potential of a companies existing staff.

Sue has written a book called Boardroom Ready Women and says all businesses can benefit from having women in senior positions.

Sue is also championing a 'Circular Economy' model in which seeks do do away with the traditional 'make, use, dispose' approach to products and replace it with new approaches to reusing resources.

Sue says there are already strong examples of how successful this strategy can be on the Yorkshire Coast.
