Scarborough Businesses Urged to Get Festive

Scarborough Businesses Urged to Get Festive

Published by Jon Burke at 6:31am 11th November 2019.

Businesses and shops in Scarborough are being urged to decorate their windows for Christmas.

The town's Chamber of Trade is having its annual widow display competition.

It's to brighten up the area and attract shoppers, with themed or animated windows, or anything that makes the town look bright and cheerful.

Winners in various categories of business win prizes and certificates.

It's hoped they can be done in time for the Christmas Lights Switch-On on Thursday.

Chamber President, Janet Jefferson, said:

"You don't have to enter - the Chamber's photographer and I and a couple of independent judges come round and we walk round all the streets.

It usually takes us two to three nights to do it from 4pm onwards.

So please do put your lights on, do decorate your shops and let's make Christmas sparkle."
